SUNeVision provides supplementary details on the incident at MEGA Two

Regarding the incident occurred at SUNeVision’s MEGA Two data centre located at 8 Wong Chuk Yeung Street in Fo Tan on 14 October, SUNeVision would like to provide supplementary details as follows:

The incident occurred when a contractor staff was conducting routine maintenance on the control panel of a chiller fan located at the outdoor podium of MEGA Two on the morning of 14 October. A spark occurred at the panel when the licensed electrician was taking readings there. While we are still investigating the root cause, preliminary findings indicate that a short circuit might have occurred during the metre reading. The contractor staff was injured in the arm but stayed conscious the entire time. The incident was promptly reported to the Police and Fire Services Department by our on-site staff. The contractor staff was then transported to the hospital for a thorough examination. Subsequent assessments determined that the injury was minor, and the contractor staff has been discharged today (16 October).

Immediately following the incident, we thoroughly inspected MEGA Two to ensure the safety of all staff and other contractors. We also confirmed that the faulty panel did not affect data centre and customer operations in MEGA Two. We are working with the contractor to start replacing the faulty panel today (16 October) to implement mitigation measures.

We place safety of our employees, customers and partners as our No.1 priority. Any on-site injury is intolerable. We have formed a task force to investigate the incident's root cause and propose preventive and improvement measures to prevent future occurrences.
